HAPPINESS IS A VOYAGE

We convince ourselves that the life is better once we are married, have a baby, then another….. Then we get frustrated because our children are not old enough and that all will be well when they are older. Then we are frustrated because they reach adolescence and we must deal with them and surely we will be happier when they grow out of the teen years… and so on and the destination of happiness is always awaited. In a way we console ourselves, our life will be better when we have a new car, when we can take a vacation and when we finally retire but the truth is that there is no better time to be happy than now . If not now then when ?

Life is always full of challenges. It seemed that life was about to start . REAL LIFE ! ! but there were always some obstacles on the way, an ordeal to get through, some bills to be paid, some work to be finished and I finally came to understand that those obstacles were life !!! That point of view helped me see that there isn’t any road to happiness. Happiness is the road. So enjoy every moment, don’t count others blessings, achievements, honors, because applause dies away, trophies gather dust, winners are soon forgotten. Remembered are the moments and those souls who were close by.

Some times ago, at the Seattle Olympics, nine athletes, all mentally or physically challenged, were standing on the start line of 100 m race. The gun fired and the race began. Every one was not running but had the spirit to participate and win. Suddenly one boy tripped and fell and started crying. The rest eight stopped and came back. Then all nine walked shoulder to shoulder to the finish point. They found happiness in that ground by sacrificing there wining chance to let their friend not loose. The crowd applauded and people who witnessed still talk about it. Life is very short, and the important is to help others to win. Even if that means slowing down and changing our own race.

Our home and work place can surely be the fantasy in real life. Yes, our home can be such that one gets halt to catch the glimpse of its every corner…

And here are a few important elements, if taken care of, can make our dreams come true…

Ø Ergonomically Designed Furniture: Furniture is the back bone of any Interior (residential or commercial). So always don’t just get attracted towards the lofty upholstery or the heavily carved costly furniture and check out its comfort value and see if it is solving the purpose for which one is buying specially for work places.
Ø Accessories and lighting: Accessories are the jewels of any Interior like jewels add to the beauty of woman, similarly accessories can make any place livable and lovable. Always remember that accessories reflect your personality. A big mirror in the lobby, side walls mounted with a few family portraits or abstract paintings and a Japanese fan over your bed, designer crockery in your display cabinet in living or dining room with a spot light on dining table etc. can help you in making your place lovable. But extremes of everything is bad , Accessories should be such that each one should have an individuality and vitality.
Ø Furnish your house with changing weather: We usually miss - match the word furnishing with furniture and many would have been astonished at the thought of changing furniture with weather! Undoubtedly it sounds strange and unpractical. But with furnishing I mean to change the window coverings, Slip covers, Bed covers , cushions covers etc. with changing weather, One can have soft colored net with loops or bamboo blinds in hot summers and heavy draperies with designer valances in chilled winters and vice versa. These small efforts keep on adding new spices to your place and you never get bored with interior
Ø Colour schemes: Proper scheme for proper room is the most important area of perfect interior. A colours in a room should follow a rhythm with the walls, floor, accessories, furniture etc. It can be in contrast or in monochrome, but should be eye soothing and long lasting rather in drawing and livings never get 4 walls painted in a same color, make combinations of the opp. Two or some paneling or cladding on the main wall makes the area more adorable. Have variety of pinks and yellows in the rooms of your kids and soft beiges and browns in your bedrooms.
